29-year-old, Calum Scott, from
Hull auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent in 2015 and came 6th with
help from the hard-to-please, Simon Cowell. Since then, Scott has reached No 2
in the UK Charts with his passionate version of Robyn’s Dancing On My Own, and
has had over 50 million streams on his latest single, You Are The Reason.
Catching the attention of Leona Lewis, former X Factor winner, Scott is
climbing to reach the top in the music industry in the months ahead.
On the 9th March, Calum
Scott will be releasing his debut album, Only Human, which I have been granted
access before the release date. Dancing On My Own, Rhythm Inside and You Are
The Reason are the three singles that will be featured on the album and they
have gathered quite a bit of attention. Leona Lewis had You Are the Reason “on
repeat” and found it such a “beautiful ballad” that she decided to duet with
Calum on the single. Although they are not available on the album itself, they
can be streamed on other means such as Spotify. I love how harmonious the pair
sound on the tracks, their voices blend together so well and really add another
level of meaning into the singles.
The Brit nominee had set the bar
high for his album and he has exceeded my expectations. Calum speaks about how
he had the “intention of connecting with people all around the world” through
his music which is packed with romantic affection. Each song is lyrically
beautiful, every word has sentiment and it is evident is some tracks like If
Our Love Is Wrong, which is the first track on the album.
There are some brilliant piano
ballads on the album which are supported by Calum Scott’s loving tone of voice.
Scott’s voice is the protagonist on of this album, it really shines is certain
tracks like Human, Hotel Room. There’s a nice blend of slower and higher tempo
songs which showcase Calum’s unique voice. I honestly believe that his voice,
alone, is what makes this album so spectacular.
Scott finished up his American
tour late last year, and made guest appearances on the likes of The Ellen
DeGeneres Show and Good Morning America. He will be touring in the UK in the
upcoming months. I’m hoping to catch him live to experience his phenomenal
music live!
Until next time...
