Hey! I'm Sophie, I'm 20 years young and live in Leicester.

You can usually find me at a gig in the photo pit or shopping for another new outfit which definitely won't fit in my wardrobe.

Enjoy looking around my blog!

Time to Celebrate

Happy Birthday to me! It's that time again where not only am I celebrating my birthday, but also my blog's. What a birthday it is too - One Unique is 5! Never in a million years did I think I would be sitting here keeping One Unique running. I didn't think it would get further than a month but here we are.

I haven't got much in my head right now, no plans for this post whatsoever so I reckon we should keep it chatty and honest.

Over the past three years, my attention towards One Unique has dwindled and I HATE that. I love everything about blogging - I don't do this for any other reason but for the enjoyment. I express my feelings through writing, which really surprises me because I hate reading blogs. Very sorry to other bloggers here but I rarely look at blogs!

A lot has happened in the past year and I've neglected my blog a bit. I don't regret forgetting about One Unique because it's been important for me to think of myself but I certainly want to get back into it this year.
I want my space on the internet to be fresh and to be honest: mine. No judgement, no worrying about if people will read it's content, a down-to-Earth place where I can write and love every moment of it.

5 years. Wow. I honestly can't believe it. My blog has presented me with so many opportunities and experiences, so much so that I wouldn't be where I am without it. My personality would be completely different, my friendships would be the same and neither would my professional life.

In the past 5 years, One Unique has built my confidence, allowed me to explore a range of outlets to express myself, and discover what I want to pursue on a professional basis.

2019 was an important year for me - I finished college and looked for a job. I can safely say that I wouldn't have gotten my job if it wasn't for One Unique and I think back to the split-second decision on my birthday 5 years ago.

So on One Unique's 5th birthday, I want to thank my mum. She sparked my curiosity and pushed me to pursue a passion I didn't know I needed. She's been through it all with me as not only myself, but One Unique has grown. I see my mum as my deputy. I used to run every email I sent by her to make sure it sounded alright, took her to events with me when I didn't know anyone, brainstormed lots of different ideas with her.

Happy birthday One Unique, and happy birthday me!

Until next time...

  1. Happy Birthday Sophie - I remember hanging out with your mum at events, do say hi from me!

    1. Thank you! I'll make sure to say hi for you :) xx
