At just 14 years old, GiGi knows what she wants and is out to get it. I spoke to her about her music and some of today's controversial topics that us teens are fighting for.
What was the inspiration behind ‘Obsessed’?
‘Obsessed’ is loosely based on my first teenage romance with someone who didn't want to cut ties. The song talks about someone forming an unrealistic attachment to a person's social media presence and the darker side of what that can look like in teenage terms.Who is the one person/band you would love to support on tour?
Halsey, hands down.Where has your passion for music come from?
My passion stems from my exposure to so many different forms of music from an early age. It gave me a love for music, and I think an ear for it. I don’t know many other fourteen-year-old girls that include Gypsy Kings, Bing Crosby and Chase Atlantic on their playlists. Are you working on any new music at the moment? What can you tell us about it?
I have about 12 songs waiting in queue that I am dying to release, but the one that I’m most excited for is ‘Cinderella’. It’s a song about a modern Cinderella story, based on a girl who works for her riches and it pays off. She’s a strong girl who doesn’t take anyone’s negativity and refuses to let anyone destroy her spirit and happiness. The song also displays that there’s nothing wrong in being confident and enjoying what you’ve earned by working hard. What’s the one song that really defines you as a person?
The songs that best describe me at the moment are either ‘Talk’ by Salvatore Ganacci or ‘Mind Games’ by Sickick.Who are the top 5 influences on your sound right now?
My hot top 5 are Halsey, Black Bear, Chase Atlantic, Lil Miquela and Post Malone.

If you could change the world, what are the three things that you would tackle first?
My top three goals would be to replace plastics with a biodegradable material that won't harm the planet (oceans/nature), put an end to the Yulin Festival in China, and help change society become more accepting and empathetic than it is today. You have the choice to go back in time five years or forward in time five years and you have to return to the present time within 24 hours. Would you rather go back in time or to the future? If you chose to go back in time, what moment would you back to and what would you do?
I'd go back in time. I would work earlier on my music writing and recording to be more advanced in my career than where I am now (I waited longer than I should have when my mom suggested it), although I am definitely not complaining.Do you have a message for your fans?
I recognize and appreciate all of your DMs, edits and all the amazing love you send me from all over the world online. You are the reason I do what I do. Thank you for choosing me, and I will continue to work hard, making the music of our generation amazing - or at least try to, haha. You can keep up to date with GiGi on her Instagram page.
