The new adventure golf trail in Leicester that is perfect for every occasion | AD

** This experience was gifted

On Wednesday 12th June I was invited to the VIP event for the opening of the new Treetop Adventure Golf in Highcross, Leicester. There's no doubt about it, I love mini golf. Not to brag, but I'm pretty good at it if I do say so myself!

When you walk in you head down some stairs overlooking the two courses and head towards The Market where you can pick up your putters and golf balls to get started. I bought a date to the event with me and I'm glad I did because we had so much fun!

There were already a few names on the leaderboard when we arrived. Before we got started, we were handed some drinks. From The Market you can buy soft drinks, alcoholic drinks, mocktails and cocktails - they have something for every occasion.

We dropped our stuff in the lockers and went to explore. Within The Market is The Thirsty Toucan where you can buy your drinks from and over at Pizza Cabana you can purchase homemade pizza, which looked delicious but we didn't get to try any as everyone had already eaten it! The whole area is really Amazonian, it's bright, packed with colourful tables and chairs, spices, candles and all in all, looks absolutely amazing! To the side, there is a private room where you can host parties too which is great if you have kids.

Once we drank our mocktails, we picked up our putters, balls and score cards to make a start on one of the two trails. There is the Tropical Trail and the Ancient Explorer trail, both are 18 holes and are indoors so if it's a rainy day, this is a great place to spend some time. We chose to begin with the Ancient Explorer trail.

The Ancient Explorer course is by far the better one if you like a challenge. Despite how many people there were at the event, there are a set of rules when you are playing - one of which is that once you've had six goes at getting the ball in the hole, you have to move on. This is great as it makes the waiting time much quicker if you're stuck behind someone.

The Tropical Trail is more colourful and slightly easier for the younger players. You meet some friendly friends around the way and it's definitely one for the less experienced in comparison to the Ancient Explorer. Don't think that you'll breeze through it though, there were a couple of holes that we barely managed!

Overall, the place is great. I've seen so many of my friends going. There's a nineteenth hole which you can play for the chance to win for a free round. I did win one of these so we went back on Monday - got two hole in ones! Just call me Tiger Woods.

Until next time...
