Interview with ZEALS

ZEALS are a relatively new band and I've been loving them recently. The band have just released their latest EP, Ready To Fly, which has got me super excited for their future music! They've got a nice sound which is a mix of pop and rock, lots of guitar and drums. I interviewed this band so you can learn a bit more about them.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How did the band form?
We were originally a 5 piece called Violet Heights, before that just a 3 piece with an idea, but yeah Violet Heights, went to record our first EP with our producer Romesh Dodangoda (Bring Me The Horizon, Don Broco, LTA, KIGH) and he said our name sounded like a hotel and was ultimately, pants. So we changed to IDLE HOUR, we then did a stint in Austria at a ski resort for a few months and the name just wasn't clicking with the variety of accents, so we were back in the U.K. I was driving to a solo gig with our EP on and thinking of names and I drove through a village in southwest Wiltshire which was real nice, and the name just stung me in the eyes. I looked up the meaning, 'a strong feeling for something or someone', absolutely what our songs and passion are about, so yeah, we're called ZEALS!
What makes Zeals different from the other bands out there?
We have a poppy sound but with enough balls to get the bikers going.
You’ve recently released your EP, Ready to Fly, what sort of reactions have you had from that so far?
It's been amazing, we've had so many reviews (which you can find on our FB page) we also got to 43 in the iTunes rock charts.
Tell me a bit about your latest EP.
It's a break through record, wanting something more out of something you really care for. We we experimented with the production side of the EP this time, lots of exciting synths and percussion, with the ballsy wall of sound to back it up.
You’ve been a band for a while, last year you released an EP, Playing Games, which reached 43 in the iTunes Rock Album charts. How did that moment feel?
It was immense, a real buzz of inspiration that's driving us on more and more.
You also took a visit to Austria, what was your favourite part of the trip?
It was so good, the best part was playing to so many different nationalities and boosting our following, the skiing was pretty sick too!
What do you love most about performing?
When you can feel the audience's vibe bouncing off us.
If you had the opportunity to support anyone at any venue, who would you support and where?
It's gotta be The1975 at Wembley, surely.
What’s your favourite ‘weird’ food combo?
McDonald's chips and milkshake.
If you were stuck on a desert island and could only take three things, what would you take?
Guitar, pen (leaves for paper), water.
Where do you see yourself by the end of 2018?
Touring with mainline bands, pleeeaaase!
Do you have a message for your fans?
Thank you so much for the constant support, we have more music coming soon and some sick gigs in the pipeline, keep posted ya'll!
