Packed with plenty of adult jokes and neon signs, the urban decor creates this amazing atmosphere - it's almost like the place shouldn't belong in Leicester. It feels like you've been transported into an independent bowling alley in London or New York! When you walk in a mural of a gorilla is painted onto the wall and next to that you can book in and pick up your bowling shoes.
The 10 lane bowling area has the most elegant look to it. Hidden in a raised area of the venue, you can sit and relax on the small booths and have a look at the drinks menu. One of the staff members came over and took our drinks order before we began our game of bowling.
I had so much confidence in myself that I was going to win against Charlie but alas, I lost by 32 points. He seemed pretty impressed with himself. We had a great time bowling and so did everyone else. The place was packed with lots of people including some Leicester Tigers Rugby players and band Easy Life. I met Ellie, who is a local blogger - you should go and check her out.
After our bowling game which I was a little bitter about we went to go and check out the rest of the place. The bar area was packed with people trying to order the amazing looking cocktails that were on the menu. Me and Charlie decided to wait a little before grabbing another drink and went to discover what was around the corner.
When we discovered what was around the corner we had to go back to the bar so I could change my £10 note for £1 coins. There was an arcade. We were in our element. We played on nearly all of the games, there were a couple of racing ones, space invaders, a basketball one, a Batman air hockey which was intense since it put around 30 putts on the table at once, there was another game which we didn't really look at and also a snooker table. My favourite was probably the snooker table, I was so close to winning against Charlie - I think he was cheating. We had a couple cheering me on the whole way #girlpower.
After our splurge on the arcade, we went and sat in a booth at the bar and chilled for a while. When we finally left, we discovered that Caddyshakers (Leicester's hottest crazy golf bar) was around the back of East Street Lanes. Turns out that they're owned by the same people.
To play a game of bowling at East Street Lanes it's £8.95 for one game, £16.95 for two games, or £11.95 for two games from 5pm Sunday to 5pm Friday. I don't think that that's bad at all for a game or two of bowling. Me and Charlie will definitely be heading back for a second date there soon - I think we might go on a double date with his best friend which will be very fun!
Here are some of my favourite photos from the night:
Will East Street Lanes see you any time soon?
Until next time...
