5 After Midnight came third in the X Factor 2016 and since then have been keeping their fresh sound, not forgetting those awesome dance routines! After their first single was released, Up In Here, it gained a massive amount of recognition with how catchy this tune was. Since then, the lads are releasing their EP, The Sauce. So far they have only let us hear the first track, Taste which is just as good as their previous single.
I got a chance to chat with Nathan (left) in the band about the release of their new EP.
~~~~~~~~~~
You smashed it with your single Up In Here earlier this year and now you’re bringing out your new EP, The Sauce. What made you decide to bring this EP out track by track?
Well this EP is for the fans, we wanted to give them a little something different with each one, I like to think it makes it easier to pick your favourite too.
Why the name, The Sauce?
The name, The Sauce, originated from the American terminology for describing a unique style of clothes, trainer, venues or music being impeccable.
The first track, Taste sounds amazing, what can we expect from the other tracks on your EP?
Ayyee thank you. Each song from this EP either has a different vibe or unique quality about it! So expect a vibe switch each time.
Your music is fun and spicy, can we expect any chilled and serious music on The Sauce?
Yes yes yeeesss...we’ve got a chilled track on there for sure. It's pretty different to what we've done before so make sure to keep your ears open for it!
When can we expect the next song off of your EP to be released?
Very soon!
What’s your favourite track off of The Sauce?
Each song has a different vibe to the last. And my favourite is Flowers.
Are we going to be seeing any of your famous dance routines to your funky and upbeat tracks, maybe in a new music video?
100% there'll be routines! We have been training in the studio, hitting up classes since our first music video! So expect something a little more out there.
There’s a fair few different sauces on your EP cover art. What’s your favourite sauce?
We've each got our favourites, mines gotta be hot sauce!
How does it feel to be recognised in the street? Is it still as surreal as when you first started out?
It was something that took a lot of getting used to, it's was crazy during the show & it's even crazier now but I do love it, cos I still get like that when I meet artists I listen to.
Who are you routing for on the X Factor at the moment?
This year's show I'm watching Grace Davies, she sings with emotion & I really like that!
Can we expect to see you performing at the live shows?
Ohhh who knows, we'd definitely love go back to where it all started and this time as an artist instead of a contestant! We'll have to wait and see.
You’re currently working on your debut album – can you tell us a little bit about what you’ve worked on so far?
There's not much I can say without me sounding like a tease. But we've been working with some incredible people & it's gunna be worth the wait!
You all started as solo artists. How did you all find each other?
We were all Soloists before yeah but we knew of each other through things like dance competition & music circuit we got the idea of becoming a band 2 weeks before our first audition on last years X Factor.
Since you were discovered on X Factor, what has been your favourite moment of your career?
There have been quite a few moments so it's hard to pick one, it's somewhere between playing piano with John Legend & performing to 80,000 people at Summertime Ball.
What can we expect from 5 After Midnight in 2018?
You can expect some more new music from us!.. bigger better dance routines and a lot more shows!!
You can find the lad's EP on Spotify here. You'll be dancing around to their music within the next few moments, I promise you!
Until next time...
