What I Was Listening to in April

It's that time of the month again where I share what I have been listening to. Now April was a good month for releases, there were loads! May has also been kicked off with some amazing new music from Shawn Mendes and Lewis Capaldi (massive hint as to what's on May's playlist there). But first, a reflection on who I had on repeat in April.

Who is featuring in my April playlist?

Lauv - Drugs and the Internet

I'm a huge fan of Lauv, I have been since 2017 so when he announced that he had a new single out, I was quick to add to it all of my playlists. Drugs and the Internet has some deep lyrics but somehow, Lauv has made an absolute banger from them. His music never disappoints me, I'm still obsessed with his last single, i'm so tired..., with Troye Sivan.

Dean Lewis - A Place We Knew

Again, I've loved Dean Lewis' music for a while now and wasn't too keen when he released his album, A Place We Knew. A couple of listens in, I couldn't get enough of it! I went out and bought a physical copy of the album and have had it on repeat. I'm particularly loving tracks, Hold Of Me and For The Last Time.

Circa Waves - What's It Like Over There

Circa Waves released their new album, What's It Like Over There, in April and like Dean Lewis' album, I'm loving it. I bought their album as a physical copy and have particularly been loving Sorry I'm YoursMe Myself and Hollywood and Movies.

There definitely aren't enough females in my monthly playlists and this whole gender equality in music is really starting to get on my nerves. I love love love male artists and I also love to support female artists too so I'm going to make extra effort to listen to more women in the next month. I've got no idea who yet, so my 'who to expect' section is still full of men but I'll definitely be making more of a conscious effort this month.

Who can you expect to see in my May playlist?

Lewis Capaldi

Does this need any kind of explanation really? Lewis Capaldi had a UK number 1 single for 7 weeks and has just entered into the charts at number 2 with his recent single, Hold Me While You Wait, from his debut album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent. I've pre-ordered the album and I'm ready to have it on repeat.

Shawn Mendes

Okay, so can Shawn Mendes chill out? I was not ready for his new single, If I Can't Have You. It's an absolute banger of a track that I've already had on repeat for days - D.A.Y.S. Is this the start of a new era for Shawn Mendes? God knows I need a new album from him!

LANY

I hadn't really listen to LANY much before their album, Malibu Nights. I loved the album so much and have recently got back into it, especially following their release of Okay in collaboration with Julia Michaels. She is slaying it recently - collaborations with everyone! LANY are one of my favourite bands at the moment and I highly recommend that you give them a listen.

Until next time...
