Who to watch out for in 2019

2018 bought us some great music; Ariana Grande, The 1975, Camila Cabello, Tom Grennan, George Ezra, J. Cole. There's been plenty of it and I've loved a lot of it, so have you no doubt. But what is 2019 going to bring us in the music scene? I'm very excited about the second The 1975 album from their Music For Cars era but who is rising to stardom and who will we be seeing more of? I put together a list of artists that I'm betting on in 2019.

Ava Max

We first heard of her in 2017 on Lee Youth's single, Clap Your Hands. She had her very first Number 1 with Sweet But Psycho. I'm sure you all have heard the song - it's been stuck in my head for weeks. With some great tunes behind her as well as collaborations (anyone collaborating with Jason Derulo is a hit), Max is set for big things this year and I think she'll get a fair few more Number 1's.

Lauv

I've been backing Lauv since 2017 but his first single was released in 2015. I love his song, I Like Me Better and have been playing it to all of my friends who subsequently have turned into fans of him too. He has a huge playlist on Spotify called I Met You When I Was 18 which is full of amazing songs like Chasing Fire, Superhero, Bracelet and Enemies. More recently, Lauv has collaborated with Julia Micheals on a track, There's No Way, which is a tune and a half.

With a unique sound, Lauv has some catchy songs that he really invests himself into creating. The pop vibe is mixed with a more acoustic sound in some of his songs but they are definite party playlist songs.

Sam Fender

Sam Fender is the winner of the Brits Critics Choice Award, previously won by the likes of Adele and Sam Smith. His music is conscious of relevant issues and puts together some great melodies. He found himself on the BBC Radio 1's Sound of 2018 list early last year, and won the Critics Choice Brit this year - this man is going to do well and no one is going to stop him.

Lewis Capaldi

Ed Sheeran watch out. Lewis Capaldi is a fairly new contender but with the release of his single Grace, Capaldi hit the charts, spending 5 weeks in the UK Top 75. Grace was part of his Breach EP which includes some more great tracks like Someone You Loved and Tough. His very first EP, Bloom, was released in 2017.

Lewis Capaldi has been nominated for the 2019 Brits Critics Choice Award and has won another 4 breakthrough act awards. Capaldi will be one of the hottest artists in 2019.

Emily Burns

I've only just remembered that I added Emily onto one of my early 2018 playlists and loved her. In 2019, I expect her to be releasing more music that is going to hit the charts. She has been evolving over the past year released her recent single, Damn Good Liar, in November 2018. If she continues creating music like this, she'll be proving to be popular by the end of the year.

Lazy Weekends

I don't really know much about Lazy Weekends, only that they've been producing some great music with Charlee and Your Friends. With only two singles, Caught Up and Make You Remember, Lazy Weekends deserve more credit. If their music went mainstream, they'd be a hit.

There are so many more artists that I think are going to be huge in 2019 but my money is on these guys - they definitely deserve it.

Who do you think is going to rise to stardom this year?

Until next time...
