Sparkle Like a Star

Just because it's winter, doesn't mean we can't keep the glitter makeup! We don't need festivals or big summer parties to wear that glitter highlight. I'm pretty sure Instagram was full of pictures of women and men with their face coated in glitter, so what's to say we have to stop just because the sun isn't out as often? The Christmas trees are out and we're all ready for the festive season. Lots of parties are soon arriving with Christmas and the New Year fast approaching, so lets crack open the glitter pots once again.

Primark make up seems to be filling up my feed so I thought that I might try some of their range for myself. I bought the Glitter Fix set for £3.00 as well as the two Get Lippy sets for £3.00 each. I couldn't resist the holographic and glitter collection. I'll definitely be trying out some more of their make up products in the new year.

So the Get Lippy Holographic Collection. This is pretty cool, I've never tried any holographic makeup before and I was really excited to give this a go. We just need to stop and chat about the packaging first. Isn't it pretty? I love the white...and those sliver, mirror like lips around the top. The sides and top of the packaging is just as cute!

For £3.00 I wasn't expecting too much but the final look was decent. The lip liner was pointless, there is no need for it. As for the lip gloss, it didn't give me many space vibes. I've seen better holographic lip glosses but what was I supposed to expect for a £3.00 product from Primark. There was a slight colour change but the game changer was the glitter. I was a bit apprehensive to put glitter on my lips because who wants to eat it? It did make my lips look super frosty and most importantly, holographic, which is great for this winter!

The second product is the Get Lippy Glitter Collection. This wins the most beautiful packaging prize. How gorgeous is this? The glittery box just looks amazing, it's so simple yet so effective. This again, cost £3.00 like everything else, and I was pretty excited because I can reuse the matte lip liner and lipstick for my usual makeup routine.

My sister tried this one out and I think the matte liquid lipstick defeated the object of the glitter. It proved difficult to get the glitter stuck onto the lips because it had started drying. Maybe a satin or gloss would have been better. It did look rather pretty though. Here's a picture of her lips. The glitter was extremely difficult to control. I think we should have used brushes rather than our fingers!

The colour of the glitter was lovely however, when I tried the liquid lipstick after, I found the colour a bit disgusting. It wasn't the prettiest nude lipstick I've seen and it sure doesn't suit me! It is a really nice application though, that was one positive.

The final product was this Glitter Fix kit. It contains three pots of glitter in the colours silver, purple and pink. Included in there too is a face glue which I thought was going to be a pain to get off but it wasn't at all. I'm surprised my mum let us use these because me and my sister are banned from using glitter - that's a story for another time!

I didn't take off my makeup when I was using the face glue so the applicator is now a nice nude colour from my foundation. I was slightly disappointed when it took my makeup off but there's nothing we can do about that! The glue didn't dry quickly which made my life easier. I applied the glitter on with my fingers and made a massive mess. When I was cleaning off all of the glitter, with my micellar water, it cleaned away all of the excess glitter, leaving shapes of glitter where the glue actually was. So there's a tip, cleanse your face and you'll uncover the shape you were originally going for.

My sister looked way better then me, she even did a little purple love heart on her nose! I was impressed by the results from these products. I think the final looks turned out good if I do say so myself. We'll definitely be getting these out again for our Christmas and New Year's Eve parties.

Have you tired glitter makeup? What were your thoughts on it?

Until next time...
