Smartie Flapjack Recipe

Hi guys! So this week I am going to do a post giving you my secret recipe for my famous flapjacks. Nobody knows this recipe until now, most people in my family and at school know me for my flapjacks, so you should definitely try it out. This must be one of my favourite recipes ever and should be used if you ever have company. Okay, lets start...

175g (6oz) butter

25g (1oz) golden syrup - I usually go for 2tbsp and I think that is what makes this recipe so delicious!
125g (4oz) soft brown sugar
250g (8oz) porridge oats - If you need to add more because the mixture is too sticky, don't hesitate.
a lot of Smarties

  • Preheat your oven to 180 C / 350 F / Gas Mark 4.
  • Put the butter and syrup in a cooking pan and melt it.
  • Once melted, add the brown sugar into the pan and stir quickly, remember to keep a close eye on the substance as you don't want any burning or bubbles!!
  • Remove the pan from the heat and pour the melted butter, golden syrup and sugar into the porridge oats.
  • Stir together.
  • Add as many Smarties as you want to and mix them in.
  • Put the mixture into a greased tin.
  • Place the tin in a preheated oven (180 C / 350 F / Gas Mark 4) for 15 minutes.
  • Once out of the oven (should be a nice golden brown sort of colour around the edges), leave to cool for a while before cutting.

That is the recipe but if you want a bit of help on the visual aspect of the recipe, scroll down...
